Start with a Passion. Make it Your Paycheck

Most people don't contact a business consultant because everything is going according to plan.

In fact, most small business owners don't contact us at all because it's just so expensive.

You might have a great idea but don't know how to turn it into a real business. Sometimes the business already exists, but customers aren't buying like you want them to. It might be that your work is getting done, but everything behind it is held together with memory, text messages and hope. Sometimes you just know something isn't working and need another set of eyes to help you find it. Sometimes you're not sure what's working and what isn't.

That's where we can help.

Marker 90 helps small-business owners, entrepreneurs, entertainers and nonprofits figure out what's holding them back (or keeping them from getting started) and build practical ways forward.

You don't need a giant to-do list. You need a simple plan you can put into action without rearranging your whole life.

You don't need to know what service to ask for.
Diagnosing the problem is part of the work.

Start a Conversation

We start with you, not us.

A lot of consultants start with a menu of services. They try to fit your business into the website package, marketing package, consulting package or monthly plan they already decided to sell.

They're so focused on their goals, they don’t diagnose your problem. They don't understand your business.

That's not how we do things.

We start with a conversation about what you do, where your business is now and where you want it to be. Then we look for the place where simple, practical improvements can make the biggest impact.

We don't start with a package or price list because we don't know what your business needs until we talk to you.

Sometimes the problem isn’t ours to solve. We can help you understand your business, build a plan and find the right questions to ask, but we don’t provide accounting, tax, legal or investment advice. When you need someone qualified in one of those areas, we’ll tell you—and help you find them.

Then we work on the problem that matters most. Everything else is just a tool.

Are we the right fit?

Whatever made you start your business, let’s be real—it probably isn’t what you’re spending all your time doing.

You wanted to create something, serve people, make a living doing what you love or have more time for your family. Instead, you’re working on spreadsheets, making graphics, chasing sales, following up and trying to fix problems behind the scenes.

That stuff you don’t want to do? That’s our passion.

We help people like you start businesses, improve businesses and solve the problems that keep good businesses from growing.

That might mean finding more customers—or the right ones—improving sales and follow-up, building a plan you can actually use, fixing the systems that let things fall through the cracks or training your team.

We also help with websites, branding, graphics, printed materials, social-media strategy and content.

It’s all connected. We help your business work better and make it easier for the right people to find you, trust you and buy from you.

Help shouldn’t be out of reach.

Let’s face it: the time you most need help is usually when you can least afford it.

Most small businesses can’t afford a consultant until they’ve already navigated all the dangers of starting a business on their own.

We’ll work with your budget, even if you don’t have one. You’d be surprised what we can give you in a free consultation. Give us an hour and we’ll give you the next few steps that can help your business grow—even if you never hire us.

If your business is screaming “HELP!” and your budget is screaming “NO!” but you’re committed, we’ll roll the dice on you.

That might mean a flexible fee, payment plan, sliding arrangement or performance-based agreement when it makes sense.

Larger clients pay market rates, which gives us room to work with small-business owners who care deeply about what they’re building but couldn’t normally afford this kind of help.

That doesn’t mean every project is free, and it doesn’t mean we’ll promise more than we can afford to deliver. It means we’ll look at the work, your budget and what we can realistically do without putting either of us in a hole.

If you care about what you’re building, we’re willing to have the conversation.

Meet the Team

Don't wait.

Waiting doesn’t build successful businesses.

Waiting won’t make it easier.

Sometimes you have to make the leap.

If you have an idea, don’t hesitate. If you have a business problem, reach out.

You don’t need a polished plan before you contact us.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need.

You don’t need to know what to ask.

Tell us what you’re trying to build, what’s frustrating you or where you’re stuck. We’ll listen, ask questions and help identify the next useful step.

Even if we decide not to work together, you should leave the first conversation with a clearer understanding of the problem and practical next steps.
